"A blend of drips, inspiration and comfort."

With client latest branding while intact with a hint of previous ideas, design evolves through the display of rice as it serves as backdrop and rice landscape of the interior surrounding. 100mm diameter acrylic tubes are place to zone the storefront into 3 main compartments: food ordering area with open fridge for food ingredients collection, internal and external dining area. Parts of acrylic tubes are frosted for wash light effect from ground and above, while the internal space are lit with white thin metal tubes.

Programmatically, the aim of the project is to provide a high degree of versatility. The system of interconnected and terraced pondfields (lo’i in Hawaiian) allows researchers to arrange cultivations according to a project’s needs.

The provided enclosures can act as accommodations or be used as educational facilities for individuals who would like to know more about the lo’i-cultivated kalo during a day visit.
