"A blend of drips, inspiration and comfort."

This coffee house emphasize the interaction among customer and barista, which centered around the process of the coffee making. Previously a café as well as a physical store for coffee beans supplier, design of the store evolves from the nature of store business. Circulation of the store travels through coffee making and drinking, potentially a counter for drip-coffee teaching and learning. Continuous open shelves display the instruments of coffee making and the varieties of coffee beans, which naturally constructed spatial backdrop for the store. 3 types of wood tone in the making of an unobtrusive interior to accentuate the varieties of coffee beans and instrument. However we tried to extend the character of drip coffee, in making a potential of drip coffee teaching process through a fluidity arrangement of counter and seating area. A blend of drips, inspiration and comfort.

Programmatically, the aim of the project is to provide a high degree of versatility. The system of interconnected and terraced pondfields (lo’i in Hawaiian) allows researchers to arrange cultivations according to a project’s needs.

The provided enclosures can act as accommodations or be used as educational facilities for individuals who would like to know more about the lo’i-cultivated kalo during a day visit.
